I used the octagon bit to cut about 100 linear feet of ipe. (Ipe is one of the hardest woods there is.) It cut the last piece as well as the first and did so without any smoke. The cuts were made in three passes. First on a table saw to the same angle as the bit cuts, the second about 1/8" back from the finish cut, and the final finish cut.
